· Guangzhou Barcelona International Hospital is listed as the first medical project of Sino-European regional policy cooperation in Guangzhou Development Zone. It was one of the projects signed in November 2018 during President Xi Jinping's visit to Spain, which was witnessed by both President Xi and Spanish Prime Minister Sanchez. The hospital is strategically positioned as a research oriented hospital, offering unique advantages. The hospital collaborates with the Hospital of Barcelona University of Spain, which is one of the oldest hospitals in Spain, key specialties include cardiovascular and cerebrovascular, neurosurgery, neurology, oncology, orthopedics, etc.
· Guangzhou Barcelona International Hospital will provide international diagnostic and treatment services for the citizens of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Concurrently, the hospital will implement dual-track payment for international commercial insurance and health insurance, while also playing an active role in health insurance reforms and projects such as Disease Diagnosis-Related Group Payments (DRGs). This contributes to the advancement of healthcare reform in China.
· The Heart Centre of the 5th Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University-Barcelona Hospital officially opened in March 2021 and is the first phase of the Guangzhou Barcelona International Hospital.
